MEET The CHEF

No restaurant can succeed without a great chef at its helm, and El Alquimista is proud to be led by Executive Chef Gary Cromie.

 

Gary’s passion for food began at a young age in Scotland, where he trained under some of the country’s leading chefs, including David Murray and Joe Queen, whose mentorship shaped his career.

 

After progressing through the ranks of the industry and winning multiple prestigious awards, Gary went on to work internationally in the USA, France, Italy and Spain, where he has now lived for the past eight years.

 

In Murcia, Gary has been recognised with awards including Best Menú del Día and Best Family Run Restaurant, and played a key role in achieving Number One Restaurant rankings on TripAdvisor and Restaurant Guru.

 

A career highlight was competing with the Scottish Culinary Olympic Team, winning two silver medals.Gary’s cooking philosophy is simple: use the very best seasonal ingredients and let natural flavours shine.

 

Everything is made from scratch, using top-quality local produce. He is also passionate about mentoring young chefs and helping the next generation develop their craft.Gary is proud to be part of El Alquimista, a venue whose vibrancy and elegance reflect his own culinary style.
